7 December 2017, 6.30pm
Glasgow Women’s Library
The event draws upon artist interviews conducted from 1974–84 by Lyn Blumenthal and Kate Horsfield. The thoughtful answers given by interviewees at early stages of their practice share their lives and work in ways that are both surprising and enlightening and reveal the development of each artist’s trajectory.
Writer Laura Guy, graphic designer Kaisa Lassinaro and publisher Emmie McLuskey discuss their work in relation, and as a response, to archives and publications. Selected clips from the interviews will be screened.
The artist interview project by Lyn Blumenthal and Kate Horsfield provided a foundation for the Video Data Bank at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). VDB is a leading resource in the United States for video by and about contemporary artists.
